BUT WHY
15 minutes?

( AND OTHER FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS )

Sacred Gelato

  • Sacred: it is a word we usually use in religious contexts or matters of godly connotations. If you understand the meaning of the word in the highest sense, there is a humility to it. When something is sacred, it does not seek your approval, nor does it aspire to an achievement of status. It exists in service of good; it exists in the energy and frequency of love.

  • Adaptogens are a specific category of plants and mushrooms that bolster your body’s ability to respond to stress, anxiety, and fatigue and promote overall wellbeing. You can take adaptogens by adding them to food or beverages or take them as tinctures. Adaptogens bring your body back to a steady balance by managing both physical and mental stressors.

  • Young coconut meat is the soft, edible part on the inside of a green (or young) coconut shell. These are the same coconuts that yield coconut water, with the coconut meat being an (often wasted!) byproduct of this process.

Young coconut meat is the base of all of our plant-based gelatos and the reason behind our creamy texture. Young coconut meat is packed with fiber, potassium, and contains all 5 essential electrolytes. It also boasts half the amount of fat and calories as (mature) coconut milk.

  • Yes! We are free of the top 8 allergens (excl. coconut). All flavors are strictly free of: gluten, dairy, corn, soy, GMOs, eggs, nuts, gums/stabilizers, sugar alcohols, and anything artificial.

Our recipes are designed to promote healing within the body and the goal is always to feel better after eating, not worse.

  • Because we use zero artificial ingredients, fillers, gums, or stabilizers, our gelato is not ready to eat right out of the freezer. We know it’s tough, but it’s always #worththewait.

Sacred Packaging

  • While current ice cream pints look like simple recyclable paperboard, the issue lies in the thin lining of plastic that coats the inside of the paperboard and acts as a moisture barrier. When paper and plastic are bound together in such a way it renders this material trash and can only be disposed in the landfill.

Americans consumes on average 1.6 Billion gallons of ice cream every year. That’s a LOT of waste.

  • We have replaced the inner plastic lining on our pints with a proprietary water-based solution. This means our packaging is now 100% plastic-free and safe to recycle or compost right at home.

  • Greenwashing is a disturbing new marketing trend where companies convey a false impression about their products being more environmentally friendly. Here is a recent example from another plant-based ice cream in response to a customer asking if their packaging is sustainable:

“Our pint packaging is made from a green certified biopolymer instead of lined with plastic. It is sourced from sugar cane husks, replacing the more common petroleum-based polymer. This swap reduced greenhouse gas emissions and is recyclable in select US facilities.”

TRUTH: biopolymer IS a plastic regardless of the source and it cannot be recycled. This is incredibly misleading and is putting the responsibility back on the customer to search and find a select US facility that may try to recycle this pint.

Recycling is not a solution. Removing plastic from the supply chain entirely is the solution.

  • We do! And we are the only ones in the market that do. Do not trust any sustainability claims without the certifications to back them up. For a copy of our certifications, please email hello@sacredserve.com.
